ENRICHMENT PROGRAMMES

Apart from the Montessori curriculum, Brainy Child Montessori also offers a range of enrichment courses as we believe that children should be widely exposed to different fields and subjects. This exposure is liken to laying of different tracks and one of it may take off - the child can be the next Mozart or the next Einstein, you never know !

During this 1.5 hour, the child will be exposed to the different areas of Montessori - Language (Phonics), Maths, Cultural, Sensorial, Practical Life. It aims to give the child a holistic education by exposing him to the different areas in Montessori learning. There will also be story telling, music & movement time, art & craft activities included in the curriculum. Recommended for children currently not already in a Montessori school. This is a unaccompanied class.

Montessori Phonics
This 1 hour program builds up the child’s foundation in the sounds of the alphabets and they learn to read by decoding. They are taught to apply schwa rules and apply phonograms to read longer and complicated words. After which, they are exposed to sentence making with the new words learnt. The Montessori way has a systematic way of teaching the children to be able to read independently.

Montessori Maths
This 1 hour program builds up the child's foundation in Maths. Math topics include numerals, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, graphs, time & money. Teaching includes using Montessori concrete learning apparatus to help the child visualise and understand the concepts.

Japanese for Kids
Children are ready to learn any language they hear. This ability unfortunately decreases with age, therefore the best time to learn a language is when the child is very young. This program introduces Japanese as a third language. For children below 3 years old, emphasis will be placed on listening, understanding and speaking the language. For older children, reading and writing Japanese will be introduced. Through this course, children will also have a better understanding of the Japanese culture. The class is conducted by a native Japanese teacher. The classes are to be accompanied by 1 adult for the purpose of home practice.

Young Picasso
This art and craft program develops creativity, aesthetic and art appreciation. It provides opportunities for self-expression and experimentation. It exposes children to different art forms– drawing, painting, printing, crafts, collage.

Young Chef
Children are given the opportunity to learn about maths (through measurement), science (properties of the ingredients used) and culture (different types of food and methods of cooking) through this cookery program. Furthermore, they get to improve their fine motor skills eg scooping, pouring, cutting, stirring through the process of cooking. And the best of it all, the children get to eat what they make at the end of the lesson!

Young Mozart
This program is specially tailored to arouse children's interest in music, expose them to different musical expressions and develop in them a sense of rhythm. This is achieved using the keyboard and percussions. The focus is primarily on building the child's musical ability to listen, sing, play and enjoy music in a group setting.

Young Shakespeare
